TOPIC: The Exile's Rest... II

Re: The Exile's Rest... II 4 years 1 month ago #1342

A thick mist swirls through the tavern, a distant ring of steel on steel is heard in its passing. As the mist fades it leaves Conall collapsed in the doorway.

"By the Father's tears!!!"

Seeing the eruption from his forge, the Guilded Blacksmith rushes to see what has occurred. He kneels beside the merchant and attempts to reassure him.

"It will be ok, old friend."

Turning back to the shop, he shouts, "DAMIEN, NEED A RED 3 OVER HERE !!"

Not looking up from his alchemy lab Damien shouts over his shoulder
"You know damn well that's not what I call them Goldhammer!"

As he speaks he grabs a bottle from beside his lab and throws it through the back room into the front towards xandobar.

The dwarf jogs back to the shop as quickly as his half-length legs will carry him. Snagging the crimson vial, he returns to the incapacitated man, years of smithing soot aparent in his breathing.

Popping the cork from the glass receptacle, Xandobar carefully slips the cure potion down Connall's gullet, his arm slightly shaking yet from the brisk run.

Conall coughs and splitters as the potion goes down his throat. Snapping awake his hand already heading for the blade at his side.

"Who the!.."

Pausing he looks around

"Goldhammer? Where am I... Where... Was I?"

Conall releases the sword and begins checking himself and his belongings.

"Where you are, Guildmaster, is the Waypoint. I don't think I will be able to answer you much beyond that. You just kind of appeared here moments ago."

The dwarf strokes his beard as the mystery begins to unfold.

"What is the last thing you remember?"

Conall stops rummaging through his packs and thinks for a bit.

"... It's hazy... Dogmen?.. and drinking... Then nothing."

"Surely you don't speak of those shape changers? That's been neigh a year ago!!"

As his words ring, Goldhammer tries to recall the last time he had seen the Guildmaster around. Had it actually been a year? Where could he have gone for so long? What was that Kyorn-cursed flash?

"It seems there are many questions, Guildmaster. With regret, I do not believe I am the one to answer them. We have a witch who frequents the Granola House. Perhaps she would have insights that could be of service."

As the dwarf leads the newcomer to the utility shop, he arranges a comfortable seat away from the blazing forge.

"Damien! Has Belladonna been around? How about the Enchantress?"

Damien looks up as the two enter the room.

"Nah. I haven't seen hide nor hair of them for a while yet. I've been a bit preoccupied with my work. Dual crafting with you keeps me fairly busy. I really need to hire a personal courier."

He nods at the Guildmaster

"Long time no see old friend. How did the restoration draught feel? I've been trying to cut some of the bitterness out of the taste." Damien smiles at Conall.

Under his breath, the dwarf grumbles
(" next let's knock some of the bitterness out of you..")

Goldhammer smirks to Conall, sure his wit had slipped quietly under the alchemist's detection. Years of steel on steel have tainted the smith's concept of quiet, though.
